The whole MSL team and I were deeply saddened to learn of the untimely passing of our former Non-Executive Director, Sakia Loer Hansen in a car accident in Melbourne, Australia.

The MSL Board and Executive team were fortunate to have had the support, challenge and insight offered by Saskia and MSL are the better for it. We placed the highest value on her knowledge and integrity which were always accompanied by good humour and empathy.

The fact that she was able to make her time available to us alongside her roles as Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Interim Vice-Chancellor and Chief Executive of Aston University as well as for a time after her return to RMIT as Deputy Vice-Chancellor is testament to her generosity.  

On a personal note, her counsel was invaluable on many occasions.

Our deepest condolences are extended to her family and to her colleagues around the world.
