System Developments
Surveys
Several changes to Surveys have been made to increase their usefulness. Surveys can now be set to one of three response options:
1) Single response - as before
2) Editable response - users can edit their response at any time while the survey is open
3) Multiple responses - users can submit multiple responses while the survey is open.
This allows you to use surveys for anything from minibus request forms to team-sheets to award nominations. You can also now copy a survey and we have added a survey respondent demographic report. If you want to use surveys for something a little more involved (e.g. Student Led Teaching Awards) have a chat with us about custom reporting.
Edinburgh University Students' Union SLTA Survey:
Votey Uppy Downy
Some of you may be aware we have been developing an 'ideas list widget' (affectionately known as the votey uppy downy thing). This allows your members to submit ideas and other members to vote on whether they agree with them or not. You can also decide whether to pass or reject an idea which stops the voting process.
This can either become part of your policy (e.g. if x positive votes are cast then y happens) or you can just use it for feedback (e.g. list all the aspects of your Summer Ball and ask your members to tell you their most and least favourite). You could also use it for a frequently asked questions area perhaps?
News lists - include organisation logo
We have edited the news list widget so you have the option to automatically show the organisation logo as the news image. This can either be set to override the news image or only appear if the organisation hasn't added an image to the article. This will obviously jazz up student activities news lists and in the New Year we will be adding this feature to events lists too.
News - Friendly URL's
The URL's of news articles will now be generated from the title. e.g. /news/article/rugby/10987 will become /news/article/rugby/thursday-training/
If you use a title that is already in use the system will prompt you for a new one.
Email Subscriptions for Forums and Article Comments
Forums now have the option for members to 'subscribe'. This will send them an email notification every time there is a new post.
Similarly this option is now available on News Comments so if you make an article (or are just interested) you can be notified if someone comments. If you want to setup a group of people who are always notified if a comment is made please email support.
