Engaging with an international student body
QUT Guild has a presence on two campuses in Brisbane where it provides support for some 50,000 students from 120 countries attending Queensland University of Technology, which is ranked 179th worldwide by the Times Higher Education World University Rankings for 2020.
The Guild provides services, representation, events and support resources including advice and advocacy, student clubs and campus sports. The Guild also runs bars, shops and second hand book shops on the campuses, the profits from which are ploughed back into its service provision and ensure free membership for all students.
A digital transformation to support the student voice
The MSL System will support its team of elected officers as they implement more services and further the Guild’s digital transformation, starting with online Elections to support the forthcoming election of new officers, followed by all additional resources ahead of the 2020 academic year.
More students than ever are juggling work with their studies and are often less incentivised to come onto campus. It’s our job to make sure all voices are heard, and digital engagement is a critical component of this. We’re extremely excited for the future with MSL, and are thrilled with our partnership, as we undoubtedly learn from each other as we navigate supporting students on different sides of the world.- Vinnie Batten, QUT Guild President
Vinnie Batten, QUT Guild President (pictured above right welcoming Gary Bryant, Chief Executive of MSL, to the Kelvin Grove campus) explained:
MSL will allow us to connect deeply with our member base, provide a range of tools to clubs & societies, and empower QUT students to get the most out of their studies. We have spent a long time exploring a digital solution that goes a step further online than just running a Wordpress website and social media. The suite of services we now have access to will allow the Guild to stay agile in how it represents the student body in an increasingly digital world.
Gary Bryant, Chief Executive of Membership Solutions Ltd (MSL) added:
QUT Guild’s decision to use the MSL System to enable the digital delivery of the Guild’s services for the benefit of its student body will enable them to transform those services and extend their reach to even more students.
